Rank and rent call tracking: tracked numbers and call reports

Every site gets its own tracked local number so calls can be counted, reviewed and shown to a tenant. You get read-only access to the data.

Why does a rank and rent site need call tracking?

The calls are the product. A tenant pays to receive them, so both of you need to see how many calls arrive, how long they last and where they come from. Without that, a lease is an argument and not a record.

Tracking also protects you as the owner. It shows whether a site produces calls at all, which tells you more about its value than rankings alone. A site can rank and still produce few useful calls, and the reports make that visible.

How do tracked local numbers and the whisper message work?

Each site gets its own local phone number, with an area code that matches the city. The number is shown on the site, and calls to it are routed to the tenant's real business line. Because every site has a separate number, we can count the calls for each one.

When a tenant answers, a short whisper message plays only to them before the caller is connected. It tells the business that the call is a local enquiry from your site, so they answer in the right way. The caller does not hear it. When a site has no tenant, the routing is set up to match the plan agreed with you.

What do the call reports show?

Call reports record each call as data. Typical fields are the date and time, the length of the call and whether it was answered. We use them for four things.

  • The monthly review of call quality, including spam and misrouted calls.
  • Answering tenant questions about the leads delivered.
  • Evidence for renewal conversations, taken from the call logs.
  • The calls and call duration figures in your monthly report.

Call data helps us find a tenant as well, because a business can judge the leads from facts. See the tenant leasing system.

Yes. You get read-only access to the call analytics and to Search Console for your sites. Read-only means you can look at calls, durations, impressions and clicks at any time, but you cannot change the numbers, routing or settings. That keeps the tracking safe from accidental changes while still letting you check our monthly report against the source.

What about call recording and the law?

Rules on recording calls differ from state to state. Some states need the consent of one person on the call and others need everyone on it to agree, and the rules can change. We set up the tracking and the whisper message, and we handle recording in line with the law of the tenant's state and the states callers are likely to call from. In some cases recording may be switched off or limited.

This is not legal advice. As the owner of the site and the numbers, you should take advice from a lawyer about recording, tenant agreements and your own duties before you rely on any recordings.

Questions about dfy rank and rent in United States

Who owns the tracked phone numbers?

The numbers are set up for your sites and belong to the asset you own. We manage the routing and the call tracking as part of the monthly service, and the monthly fee covers that work. If a number's account arrangement affects how you could move it, we explain it before you pay.

Can the tenant see the call reports?

We share call information with the tenant where it supports the lease, for example to show the number and length of calls delivered. We decide with you what is shared. The tenant does not get access to your analytics account, and read-only access for you is separate from anything a tenant sees.

Are calls recorded?

It depends on the law in the states involved and on the plan for each site. Recording laws differ, so we handle it in line with them and may limit or turn it off. Where recordings exist, they help with call quality review and renewal evidence. Please take legal advice on recording, as we cannot give it.

What happens to calls when a site has no tenant?

The number stays active so we can keep counting calls and keep the data. How the calls are routed is agreed with you, and options include a voicemail message or a short trial for a business we are talking to. A site with no tenant earns no lease income, whatever the call volume.
